Our client was founded in 1986 and after 32 years development, has become the most comprehensive and largest academic and educational institution in China. Domestically, operating more than 130 educational institutions, including a university, secondary vocational schools, secondary schools, primary schools and kindergartens in 33 cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Nanjing. Internationally, the Group has student exchanges with over twenty universities in Britain, Japan, Korea the United States, and others.
In September 2018 they entered the international school sector with a new Primary to 12 International Boarding School, in Benxi, delivering an English curriculum (PYP / GCSE / IB & A-Level) in English as well as their own Chinese curriculum.
With a current enrolment of 300 students, the purpose-built school offers facilities to rival and even beat well known established bi-lingual schools. Full track and field including both grass and artificial football pitches, indoor sports hall, library, full science labs, etc. At full capacity they will be able to cater for 2,000 students.
For an August 2020 start, they are looking for a Chinese Vice Principal.
As the Chinese Vice-Principal, you will work closely with the foreign Vice Principal, with both of you reporting into the Chinese Principal. You will be responsible for the annual teaching plan as well as professional development and teacher management. You will also play a large part in building the school image with various PR events to carry out student recruitment and handle the schools, parents, students and the multiple relations between local education institutions. You will establish international cooperation and be responsible for ensuring students complete the main study tasks for applying to university in Britain, United States, Canada, Australia as well as promoting students IELTS, TOEFL, SAT, ACT, IB, AP, HSK test scores. Whilst also reporting to the board on a regular basis as well as semester and academic year reports.
To be successful in this position, you need an Academic qualification at post-graduate or equivalent level, have at least 7 years teaching experience with a minimum 5 years education management experience. An understanding of Western and Chinese education systems as well as an understanding of international postsecondary courses as well as the needs and requirements of international students. Experience of academic assessment and standards and of quality assurance procedures. Potentials and experiences in the development of academic programs.
You need cultural awareness and understanding with strong leadership skills and a proven ability to lead, motivate, coach and develop staff, a commitment to teamwork and a proven ability to manage resources effectively, whether human or physical. You need good communication skills and competence in the effective use of Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) and proven planning and organizational skills and an ability to take initiative within curriculum and policy objectives. You should have the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, work under pressure and, when necessary, with minimal resources.
Your style should be outward looking and student sympathetic; a willingness to learn, to improve personal teaching and management effectiveness and, where appropriate, an ability to adapt.
Practical with high integrity, honesty and ethical standards and enthusiastic and committed with stamina and a positive attitude.
You need familiarity of IB, Reggio, Montessori being a plus.
