Our client is bringing transparency, and integrity to the study abroad industry. Based in Shanghai, their programs range from intensive two-week academic institutes at top universities to comprehensive four-year study abroad experiences at leading private high schools throughout the US.
Motivated to make a difference after a friend was found struggling in school overseas, bored, and unaware of the many extracurricular opportunities available in the US, our client’s founder, thinking their friend had simply chosen the wrong study abroad program, soon discovered that nearly every other study abroad program offered to international students, provided no guidance or support when they arrived, offering little beyond admission counselling and homestay matching. He began a quest to design a better study abroad experience.
Speaking extensively with seasoned international scholars to brainstorm how existing study abroad programs could be improved, he learned about some of the biggest challenges that international students face: making friends, deciding what classes to take, getting involved in extracurricular activities, staying socially engaged after the school day, and exploring the world beyond their local communities. With the belief that studying in a foreign country should foster intellectual curiosity, cultural dexterity, and self-confidence, he sat down to create a program that addressed these challenges head-on, redefining how students go abroad, empowering them to learn and live in the US with confidence and ease.
Now in their second round of funding, having grown 900% in their first year, they are seeking a Business Development Manager.
As the Business Development Manager, you will play a key role in the organisation, being the face of the company, developing new partnerships with international schools as well as public and private Chinese schools and test prep centres etc.
With the business development, currently being carried out by the CEO, you will get to work closely with him, learning from him and taking over the business development responsibilities so he can concentrate on taking the company to the next level.
To be a successful Business Development Manager, you should come from a top 50 ranked international university, have business development experience and a network in the education industry in China. You need to be sales driven, passionate about people, education and be bilingual in Chinese and English.
