Detail
Our client has a 20-year history in Chinese education, operating four schools from primary to secondary and one college, offering the Chinese curriculum, across 2 provinces in China, in Hangzhou and Wenzhou. With the backing of the local government, they want to take advantage of the internationalisation of Hangzhou and in particular the growing popularity of western education in China blending Chinese and Western education, by starting a bi-lingual curriculum in their boarding school this September. They have everything in place, the building, licences, amenities, students, and are just lacking the most important aspects, teachers and in particular a Head Teacher and a curriculum!
As the Head Teacher you will be responsible for designing the curriculum, leading initially a team of 3 foreign teachers, also to be appointed. The curriculum will cover ages 7 to 15 across English, science, art and sport. With an initial intake of 320 students from Primary 1st year and Junior 1st Year, growing to an expected full capacity of 1500 students by September 2018.
To be successful in the position you must have previous curriculum design experience in a Chinese school offering a bi-lingual curriculum, and whilst not necessarily having been a head teacher, you must have led a team, been head of department etc. and are wanting to step up to the next position. This position would not be suitable for a Head Teacher coming from a full international school unless they have the before mentioned experience. Ideally you would be available, at the latest for a June start.
In return you will get to be at the forefront of an education evolution that has proved so popular across China, to work in Hangzhou, the capital of Zhejiang Province, known as 'Heaven on Earth' with its stunning natural beauty and rich cultural heritage. It was described by Marco Polo as "the finest and most splendid city in the world", and listed in the "Top 52 places to go in 2016" by The New York Times and is where the G20 Summit was held last year.
