The school operates from a new purpose-built campus of around 50 acres, which, alongside extensive teaching and boarding facilities, also includes indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a large fitness suite, a very well equipped visual and performing arts centre, third-generation Astroturf and outdoor barbecue area. Due to the current Covid-19 situation, they are looking for the following IGCSE / A-Level teachers already in China for a mid-August 2020 start. Initially the positions will be for three months, to cover for teachers stuck outside China, with 2 year contracts offered to outstanding teachers:
Maths, English, Biology, and Physics.
As the IGCSE / A-Level Biology teacher, you will provide high quality teaching to small groups of high achieving Chinese students aged 12 to 18, with the highest ratio of foreign teachers to students in the Province 1:6. You will promote an engaging learning environment and contribute to the development of the relevant department’s curriculum and resource. You will be responsible for awakening students’ self-awareness, from the moment they begin their journey, encouraging students to consider their strengths and interests, supporting themselves in finding the very best opportunities for their academic future.
You will be part of a school where staff and students come from over 19 countries including the UK, the USA, Canada, Australia, Germany, South Africa, Singapore, Japan, and Thailand. Teachers come bearing their knowledge, experience and culture, creating a vibrant environment in which students are exposed to the outside world. At the school, cultures coexist and interact - a mini melting pot that provides a mixed academic and cultural environment to help students to grow. You will be part of an extensive faculty that have graduated from world-renowned universities such as Oxford, Harvard and Cambridge; the total number of foreign teachers is now over 60, accounting for 70 percent of the total staff.
You should demonstrate a full commitment to the holistic education, which is at the heart of their education, contributing fully to the academic, co-curricular and pastoral provision, and life in boarding houses where applicable.
You will work closely with local support staff to ensure strong communication between school and home and a smooth transition to an international British curriculum school environment for all students.
To be successful as the IGCSE / A-Level teacher in your chosen subject area, you need to have recognised teacher qualification status, Bachelor’s degree or above in relevant subject area, with a minimum two years’ experience as a teacher, be a native level English speaker and highly talented practitioner of your subject. Ideally you will have experience of working in a full boarding school, experience of teaching children for whom English is an additional language and experience of teaching both in the UK (ideally) and in international schools.
